Man Healed of Liver Cancer, still doing well

Do you ever wonder what happened to people that were healed in a remarkable way? How are they doing now? Did the illness ever come back?

Well this week we got to meet a man that was dramatically healed of cancer 15 years ago. His name is Gerardo Lopez. His wife and two daughters came to a women’s retreat at the Lord’s Ranch, and they reminded us of the story. This is what Gerardo had shared 15 years ago:

“About a year ago my appendix burst and a short while afterwards I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. I had an operation, and everything looked good. The doctor was very confident that he got everything out and it seemed like everything was going well. Six months after the operation on a follow-up, the doctor told us the cancer had spread to the liver. That is not good in any scenario. If cancer spreads to your liver, there is a very slim chance that you will ever recover from that.

“We were going to a hospital in Houston called M.D. Anderson and they are famous for treating people with cancer. My wife phoned the doctor after the diagnosis and asked how serious the situation was. The doctor told her, ‘Well, it could be that your husband has as little as three months to live.’

“But we kept praying. We went to the Lord’s Ranch and received prayer. That day when we returned home, I got a chill. I could not get warm no matter how high I turned the thermostat. Then I broke out into a sweat like I’ve never had before – I sweat and sweat and sweat. I believe that the Lord was purifying me. After that I felt well.

“I never had the surgery. When I went back to Houston, they told us that there was no cancer in the liver! Ever since the day of the sweating, my strength has increased. All of a sudden, I have all this energy that I never had before, and I want to put it to use for God. I know God has a purpose for me, as He does for all of us. We should take every moment that we have to do His will.”

When Gerardo came to pick up his family after the retreat, we talked about this healing. He told us, “I feel better now than I did when I was first healed.” Praise God!
