If you were to ask 13 year old Angelica Diaz what she wanted for Christmas, she would answer, “a new smile.” Angelica has suffered a lot because of her teeth. Two of them are fused into her upper palate and the rest are extremely crooked. She never smiles because she is ashamed of her teeth and is being bullied at school because of it. Her mother has the same problem but she wants us to help her daughter instead of her. We paid for an initial surgery to begin reconstruction of Angelica’s mouth, but she still needs a lot more dental work.
We have a free dental clinic at the Lord’s Food Bank in Juarez and have some wonderful dentists and dental assistants who volunteer their time and services, providing free cleaning and extractions. But when surgery or other procedures are required, we need to find funds to help the patients pay for them.
Like Mario Devora, 60 years old. The dentist has done some work on Mario’s mouth but he is losing his teeth and could really use some partial dentures.
As you can imagine, we have a long waiting list because there are MANY people needing different surgeries, root canals, implants etc. But we try to help as many as we can.
