In the midst of this coronavirus pandemic, we are continuing to try to help those who are hungry and in need. Many of the people we serve have no governmental assistance, no savings, and no security nets to catch them in these challenging times.
As the crisis situation was developing in March, we tripled the amount of food we gave out, not knowing when we could distribute groceries again. Our aim was to get these vulnerable families enough food for 2-3 weeks. When it became clear that the quarantine orders were going to be extended, the volunteers at the Lord’s Food Bank in Juarez, Mexico had to come up with creative ways to comply with social distancing and safety regulations.
So with facial masks donned, they got to work. Some went to the market to buy food in bulk. Another crew drew lines on the ground outside in chalk to show people where they should stand to allow for a safe distance from one another. Then we spread the word that the Food Bank was still open, and the people came.
We were very glad to be able to get this essential food to those in need, and many expressed their deep gratitude.
We pray that you and your loved ones are staying safe and healthy. Please pray for us.
