We are happy to announce that the biography of our founder, Father Rick Thomas, S.J., is now available in Spanish. The book has been available in English for a few years, but many of our Spanish-speaking followers in Mexico and beyond have been asking for it in Spanish.
A good friend of ours undertook the demanding task of translating it. She knew Father Thomas personally and was in a unique position to capture as accurately as possible what the biography reveals about his character and life. A translator’s job is challenging, trying to express clearly in one’s own language and cultural understanding what is being said in another, and we think she did a fantastic job.
Besides that, she did not charge us for the many hours of work and effort she spent on this time-consuming project, nor did she want any recognition or acknowledgment. May the Lord reward her abundantly!
For several years now, we have been working to get the cause of sainthood opened for Father Thomas. As you may know, it’s a very long and complex process, but we’re trying to move forward step by step. Having this biography in Spanish has been a long-term goal and is an important part of it, since Father Rick spent much of his time ministering in Juárez, Mexico.
