In the midst of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, we have some good news to share. Our first student graduated from the Father Richard Thomas Montessori school at Las Alitas in Juarez, Mexico. At 4½ years old, Ytzel Milagros Rodriguez entered our little Montessori school as the oldest of the students, and she is the first to complete kindergarten there.
When the stay-at-home orders started in Mexico earlier this year, we had to close the doors of our school but that doesn’t mean the learning stopped. The teachers would meet once a week with the parents and give them the assignments that the children could do at home. The moms and dads would then send videos or photos of their children doing the tasks and could ask any questions or get clarification from the teachers at any time.
We don’t know what this fall will bring with the ever-changing situation of the virus and what the government will decide as far as schools go, but we do know that learning will continue because of our committed teachers and parents and the eagerness of the children to learn.
