Let me introduce you to Yadira, a single mom who comes to our Food Bank in Juarez, Mexico. She is a courageous woman who took a stand for life against some harsh odds.
When she became pregnant, various people told her to have an abortion since she already had two children and struggled to make ends meet. The father of the baby insisted that he didn’t want the baby. He promised to stay with her if she got an abortion, but Yadira said no, so he left her.
When a family member pressured her to abort, she stood her ground again and said, “No. This is my baby. No matter what, I am going to have this child.”
Despite the hardships and lack of support, Yadira gave birth to a healthy baby girl. She named her Guadalupe after Our Lady of Guadalupe, since she had prayed to the Blessed Mother for help during her pregnancy.
Yadira also knew that the Lord’s Food Bank would be there to help and support her until such time as she could get back on her feet.
Guadalupe’s two big brothers are delighted with their baby sister, which makes Yadira very happy. “This little girl brings so much joy to our family. We can’t imagine what life would be like without her.”
Thank you for helping us be able to provide food and support to families in need like Yadira’s.
